Overview & Scope

Assam Economic Review (AER) is a peer review journal of Assam Economic Society, published by the Department of Economics, Gauhati University. The aim of the journal is to provide a forum for discussion and exchange of ideas and findings of research on any branch of economics. Papers dealing with (i) latest advances in research and methods of analysis and/or (ii) analyzing primary data to substantiate/debate existing theories and policies in the context of Economy of Northeast India and/or (iii) attempting to test new hypothesis to illustrate actual economic phenomenon in an operational economy will be given preference.

Guidelines for Authors

Formalities

Contributors are required to submit soft copies of their papers as email attachments to assameconomicreview@gmail.com. The paper will be sent for review by a reviewer selected by the editorial board. The comment(s) from the reviewer will be communicated to the author. The editorial board’s decision to accept or not to accept the paper for publication will be made taking into account the reviewer’s comments. Papers can be sent at any time of the year.


Structure of paper

The length of the paper should be within 3000 to 5000 words. The text of the paper should be typed using MS-WORD in Ariel font of size 12 with line spacing of 1.5. Tables, endnotes, references etc. can be typed in single space using font size not less than 10. The paper should have a cover page giving title of the paper; author’s name, affiliation, complete address with email and phone numbers; an abstract within 300 words and keywords (not exceeding five and excluding words appearing in the title). If the paper is co-authored, it should be clearly stated with which author correspondence is to be made. The full paper will begin from the next page in which only the title, but no other information given in the cover page, should be repeated. A paper is expected to have an introductory section outlining the context and the background of the work, specifying the objectives and the hypotheses/research questions (if any) and stating the structure of the paper. This should be followed by the main body of the paper (methodology, results and discussion). The concluding section should summarize the broad findings and inferences of the work and extract policy implications. Tables/graphs/figures should be sequentially numbered and appropriately titled. In citing and listing of references, the styles followed in the Economic and Political Weekly (available at www.epw.in) should be adopted. Notes should be in the form of sequentially numbered endnotes rather than footnotes.

Guidelines for Reviewers

Reviewers are requested to kindly states the following.

  1. Whether the author has identified an issue either in the way of introducing the subject or in articulating a specific research question.

  2. Whether the literature cited while contextualizing the subject is relevant or the author need to be drawn to work not referred to.

  3. Whether the data used if any have been appropriately sources.

  4. Whether the analy cal framework is consistent.

  5. Whether the discussion of results is insightful.

  6. Whether conclusions and sugges ons have been logically extracted from the analysis.

  7. Whether references have been cited and listed as required. We follow the EPW style.

  8. Whether the language requires signifcant polishing.

Ethics Policy

  • The author(s) must ensure that all researched work submitted is original, fully referenced and that all authors are represented accurately.

  • In case of paper with joint authorship of two or more persons, one of the authors is designated as the corresponding author, who shall be deemed by the publisher and editor as fully responsible for the authorship of the paper and all communications concerning the ethical status and originality of the paper.

  • The author(s) must openly disclose the source of all data and third party material used for preparing the paper.

  • The author(s) must identify any third party material that they intend to include in their article, and obtain written permission for re-use in each instance from the relevant copyright holders. Such permissions should be submitted once the manuscript is accepted.

  • The author(s) must openly disclose any conflict of interest.

  • The author(s) must understand that once published in the Assam Economic Review, the copy right of the published material rests with the Department of Economics, Gauhati University.

  • The author(s) must understand that editor of the journal is entitled to scan submissions using plagiarism detection software.

  • The author(s) must fully correspond and comply with the editor and publisher in any requests for source data, proof of authorship or originality in a timely manner, providing reasonable explanation for discrepancies or failures to disclose vital information.

  • The author(s) must fully co-operate with any consequent investigations if the editor and/or publisher are dissatisfied with the evidence available or the explanations provided.

  • The author(s) must understand that articles found to be unethical, misleading or damaging will be the retracted
